Website Design History
A man named Tim Berners-Lee published the first website in August 1991. He was the 1st to combine Internet communication which had been using email for decades with hypertext.
Websites are written in a markup language which is called HTML. Initial versions of HTML were very basic, only giving a website basic structure - headings and paragraphs, and the ability to link.
As the World Wide Web and web site design progressed, the markup language evolved to become more complex and flexible, giving the ability to add images and tables to a page.

Website Design Process
The main goal of a web site should be of course to meet the requirements of the client. This would probably be to attract customers.. The design of the website is important to convince the user that they have come to the correct place, or that they have found what they are looking for. It is the responsibly of the website designer, to generate an appropriate website design that is not only visually appealing to the indended market, but that doesn't put off users from exploring the web site further. The website should be easy to find, easy to use and easy on the eye. Website designers often use a variety of approaches and software during the design of a web site. These can include Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash and CSS.
I usually come up with a one page mock website design to begin with. This design is then uploaded to my server and an email link is sent to the client. They can then view the website design and give appropriate feedback. Once they are happy with the design, we can then progress with the remainder of the website.
